Plot It is an example of a portmanteau film, containing three distinct stories which are connected by an automobile accident which takes place in Mexico City. Each of the three tales also revolves around dogs (Spanish: ) to varying degrees, as implied by the title. "Octavio and Susana" stars Gael García Bernal and Vanessa Bauche as the title characters. Octavio falls in love with his brother's wife, and he pits his pet dog, Cofi, in illegal dogfights in order to earn the money they need to elope. "Daniel and Valeria" stars Álvaro Guerrero as a man who has left his family for a famous supermodel (played by Goya Toledo). After an accident, the model becomes disabled and can no longer stand up, and her pet poodle disappears under the floorboards. "El Chivo and Maru" stars Emilio Echevarría as El Chivo, a tramp and hitman, who lives surrounded by stray dogs. After serving twenty years in jail for guerrilla activities, he tries to reconnect with his daughter Maru, who believes him to be dead. |
