Diane Lane (born January 22, 1965Diane Lane is an American actress born in New York City, New York. The daughter of acting coach Burt Lane and singercenterfold Colleen Farrington, Lane was raised by her father after her parents' divorce when she was a baby. She began acting professionally at the age of six at the La Mama Experimental Theatre in New York. She was chosen from a casting call to perform in Andrei Serbian's "Medea." She subsequently starred in his films "Electra", "The Trojan Women", "The Good Woman of Szechuan", and "As You Like It" within the next five years. At 13, she made her film debut opposite Laurence Olivier in , and was featured on the cover of Time magazine. Lane is one of the few child performers to have made a successful transition into adult roles. In 2002 she was nominated for an Academy Award as Best Actress for her performance in , and was honoured for her work in that film by The New York Film Critics and The National Society of Film Critics.

Earlier on, Lane made a hit with audiences in the back to back cult hits and for a time was designated a member of the so-called "brat pack." However the two films that should have catapulted her to star status, , however, she began to gain serious attention in more mature roles.

She was married to actor Christopher Lambert from 1988 to 1994. They had one child, Eleanor Jasmine Lambert, born September 5, 1993. Lane married actor Josh Brolin on August 14, 2004. On December 20 of that year she called police after an altercation and he was arrested for spousal battery, but the charges were later dropped.
