Chasers
In the first five books, the Chasers for the Gryffindor Quidditch team are the same three girls -- b. They are apparently very good at Quidditch and popular. Katie is one year older than Harry, and Angelina and Alicia are two years older than him. They appear to be a close-knit group both on and off the field. Harry sometimes notices them sitting together in the Gryffindor common room, talking quietly or working on homework, and when Harry was forming Dumbledore's Army, they came to the initial planning meeting in Hogsmeade together. In Harry's sixth year, both Angelina and Alicia have already finished school, so Harry (as the new team captain) must find new chasers. One is Ginny Weasley and one is b (born late October, 1977) is a tall black girl with long braided hair, two years older than Harry. In i she was among the people who entered their names to the Goblet as possible champions for Hogwarts, but was not selected. In the same book, she was asked by Fred Weasley to the Yule Ball and accepted. They made quite a pair, dancing so energetically together that other couples gave them a wide berth on the dance floor for fear of getting hurt. Lee Jordan also finds her quite attractive, and has apparently been trying to convince her to go out with him for several years, without any success. After Oliver Wood left Hogwarts, Angelina became Quidditch captain and proved to be at least as demanding of her players as Oliver was. She attributed this to the stress of the job, and said once that she now wished she hadn't been so hard on Oliver when he was captain. In the films, she is played by Danielle Taylor, who is also sometimes credited as Danielle Tabor. In i, but she joined the team the next year. Alicia is most often the chaser who attempts penalty shots for Gryffindor when the other team commits a foul. She is played by Leilah Sutherland in the first film, and Rochelle Douglas in the second.br joined the Gryffindor team in her second year (Harry's first) as a Chaser; originally, she was a reserve member. She is played by Emily Dale in the films. In Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Katie is the only remaining member from the original team that Harry joined in his first year - she advises Harry not to discriminate in favour of old players like her but to hold trials for all. She succeeds in remaining one of the three Chasers of the team after an excellent trial, along with Ginny Weasley and Demelza Robins. Later in the year, Draco Malfoy secretly attempts to use Katie to deliver a cursed necklace to Albus Dumbledore and kill him. Madam Rosmerta, whom Draco has placed under the Imperius Curse, gives the necklace to Katie in Hogsmeade, but Katie accidentally touches the necklace and is badly cursed. Fortunately, she only touches it with the smallest amount of skin (through a small hole in her glove), otherwise she would probably have died, but she spends most of the rest of the year in St Mungo's. Dean Thomas takes over as Chaser, but Katie returns before the final match against Ravenclaw, to help Gryffindor win the Quidditch Cup for the 3rd season running. In most fan-fiction stories, Katie is depicted as tomboy who can hold her own in a fight. In some fan-fics she is also shown as taking an interest in Cedric Diggory, a Hogwarts student that is in another house and Oliver Wood, her Quidditch captain.br . According to Harry, she is an excellent chaser, and exceptionally good at dodging bludgers. She was the one who delivered a message from Severus Snape telling him about his detention which happened to be on the same time as Professor Slughorn's party, much to Harry's distress. The character is probably named for the Demelza House charity Daniel Radcliffe supports. [1] br is played by Sean Biggerstaff in the film adaptions. Wood was the captain of the Gryffindor Quidditch team in the first three books, but he left Hogwarts at the end of i. Wood was very determined to win the Quidditch cup and had a reputation for working the team too hard, which he well deserved. He was more concerned with winning than the well-being of his team, doing such things as making them practise in the pouring rain and telling Harry to "get the Snitch or die trying." When Harry joined the team as the youngest Seeker in a century, he thought the cup was in the bag. Due to unfortunate coincidences, the Gryffindor team failed to win the cup during Harry's first two years: Harry was unconscious in the hospital wing during the final match his first year and Quidditch was cancelled the following year due to the opening of the Chamber of Secrets. The next year, Wood's final at the school, Gryffindor finally won. Wood appeared briefly the following year and explained he'd been taken onto the reserve team for Puddlemere United. He was eventually succeeded as Gryffindor Keeper by Ron Weasley and as captain by Angelina Johnson. Ron considered checking with Puddlemere United to see if Oliver had been killed, because Angelina seemed to be 'channeling his spirit'. In fan-fiction stories, Wood is shown to be Quidditch obsessed all the time. Also it doesn't likely to happen, but in fan-fics he's shown to taken an interest in Katie Bell, a Gryffindor chaser.br replaced Fred and George Weasley after they were suspended in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. In Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Harry as the new team captain replaces Kirke and Sloper with b with Jack Sloper. He takes over for Fred and George Weasley when they receive the "life-long" ban from Dolores Umbridge. Kirke's name may be referenced to Andrew Keterley,(Uncle Andrew) the sinister wizarding uncle of Digory Kirke, from the CS Lewis novel The Magician's Nephew.br book series. Much is unknown about him, but what is known is that he is in the house of Gryffindor during the mid 1990s. He was a Beater on the Gryffindor Quidditch team from 1995-1996. He takes over for Fred and George Weasley when they receive the "life-long" ban from Dolores Umbridge.br joined the Gryffindor team in Harry's sixth year. He is short and broad chested, three years younger than Harry, and managed to hit a Bludger into the back of Harry's head, causing a huge lump. Also, when Ron reduced Demelza Robins to tears during a Quidditch practice, Jimmy yelled at him to "shut up and leave her alone".br joined the Gryffindor team in Harry's sixth year. He is described as "weedy looking", but has very good aim.br is a close friend of Fred and George Weasley, a jovial and fun-loving fellow, and the commentator for Quidditch matches. Lee's commentary is biased towards Gryffindor. For example, he cannot avoid pointing out in his commentary that Angelina Johnson is an excellent Chaser and "rather attractive, too" or that Slytherins cheat (both likely true). When he does this, Professor McGonagall often tries to set him straight (Often to no avail). He also seems to not stop swearing despite Professor McGonagall's threats to remove him from his post if he continues. In Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Lee levitated two nifflers through Dolores Umbridge's window. He becomes dispirited after Fred and George leave, and loses some of his comedic nature. After Lee Jordan has left the school in the fifth book, his commentary positions are taken up by Zacharias Smith and Luna Lovegood. Lee is played in the films by Luke Youngblood. Interestingly, Lee's commentary is not biased in the films. His heavy swearing does not appear either in the films. br book series written by J.K. Rowling. Dai Llewellyn was the most famous player on the Welsh Quidditch team the Caerphilly Catapults. Llewellyn was eaten by a Chimaera while on holiday in Mykonos, Greece, and resulted in a day of national mourning for all Welsh witches and wizards. b is now awarded at the end of each season to the League player who has taken the most exciting and foolhardy risks during a game and the b for serious bites is located on level one of St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries.br . Kennilworthy Whisp lives in Nottinghamshire, and divides his time between there and "wherever the Wigtown Wanderers are playing this week." His hobbies include backgammon, vegetarian cookery, and collecting vintage broomsticks. His name is thought to be created as a pseudonym for J. K. Rowling , as her surname appears reversed and the i |
