Kasur , located 55 km southeast of Lahore, is one of the oldest cities in Pakistan. Kasur is adjacent to the Indo-Pak Border. It is a major tourist attraction because of the famous guard changing ceremony (at the Ganda Singh Border which is a couple of minutes drive away). It is also famous for it very spicy fish which is prepeared by only a couple of the local restaurants. Apart from that, it is also the birthplace of Noor Jehan, the famous Pakistani singer and actress who gained popularity in the 1960's.

Kasur remained a subdivision of the Lahore District until it became a district in its own right on 1 July 1976.
