Drawsko Pomorskie is a town in north-eastern Poland, with 17,440 inhabitants.

Located in West Pomeranian Voivodship (since 1999), it is the capital of Drawsko Pomorskie County.

History

Since 7th century the site of Pomeranian settlement on the trade route between Great Poland and Baltic sea. In 10th century ruled by Mieszko I of Poland. Later followed history of Pomerania. In 13th century fortress of the ruler of Great Poland Przemysl I of Poland. After the murder of Przemysl I of Poland in 1296 occupied by Brandenburg. The town received its city charter in 1297 according Magdeburg city charter. In 1538 changed confession to Protestant faith. In 1701 it became part of Prussia. 1871 German Empire. Its German name was i. The town became part of Poland in 1945.

Near the town there exists a large military training area. It is frequently used for military exercises by the armies of NATO countries.
