Nybro . When the city arms were granted in 1932, the lower part depict a bridge. The upper part depict crossbows, but it is uncertain why.

The municipality was inhabited by a few houndred people until the railroads came in the late 19th century, and the town Nybro was in its location between Kalmar on the east coast and Gothenburg on the west coast; later also on the railroad from Kalmar and Malmö in the south-west. Up until then Nybro mostly had consisted of minor industries, marked by its traditionally Smalandian forest nature, largely unsuitable for any agriculture. The most notable were a match factory; apart from that Nybro was also the easternmost part of the i, the Realm of Glass, that covers a total of four municipalities and has had many glass blowers, most notably Orrefors, Emmaboda and Kosta Boda.

Today, Nybro is the only proper town in the whole Realm of Glass. It is otherwise also an industry marked municipality.
