Hammamet is a town in Tunisia which due to its beaches is a well-loved location for swimming and was the first tourist destination in Tunisia. It is located in the south east of the Tunisian peninsula of Cap Bon in the Gouvernerat Nabeul on the northern edge of the Gulf of Hammamet.

The town has around 70,000 inhabitants (the population quadruples due to tourists in the summer) and an area of 36 square kilometres. It is almost at the half-way point between the capital Tunis (64 km) and Sousse (84 km).

Many oranges and lemons are grown there.

Bettino Craxi died there at age 66 from complications of diabetes in 2000.
