Without a Paddle is a 2004 film about three men going on a camping trip. The movie stars Matthew Lillard, Seth Green and Dax Shepard.
Plot After their close friend, Billy, passes away, Tom, Jerry and Dan decide to go on a treasure hunt. They find a map, apparently put into a time capsule by Billy, supposedly leading to the remnants of D. B. Cooper's missing treasure. Although Dan expresses extreme distaste for Tom's idea, the 3 decide to drop their lives and go find the treasure, completing Billy's legacy. The trio quickly loses their camping gear and food, and are forced to take shelter at a vast pot farm. They proceed to accidentally burn it down, provoking to the 2 farmers to hunt and kill them. The trio also come across two hippies in a gigantic oak tree called 'Earthchild', and claim they're there to prevent it being cut down. Although the climax of the movie is arguably the confrontation with the pot farmers, the trio does indeed find D. B. Cooper. His partner Del, who lives on the mountain after trying and failing to find D. B. when he landed, gives them the coordinates of D. B.'s landing, but he was never found. But Jerry discovers there is iron in the mountain, which would throw off Del's compass. The trio fall into an abandoned mine shaft, containing D. B.. It was a blizzard when he landed, meaning the cave would have been covered with snow, and combined with the iron disrupting the compass, D. B. was never found. He broke his legs upon impact, and burnt some of the money to keep warm. But he did not burn Del's half of the money, which the trio keeps. (Although two of them express no desire to keep it, and thus, only Jerry keeps it.) Dell also finds D. B.'s bones, and decides to give his old friend a proper burial.
