Zach Braff (born April 6, 1975Zach Braff is an American television and film actor, director, screenwriter, and producer. He is best known for his role as Dr. John "J.D." Dorian in the NBC sitcom

Early life

Braff was born in South Orange, New Jersey, USA to a Jewish family. He graduated from Columbia High School in Maplewood, New Jersey, where he worked in the school's television station. He holds a degree in film from Northwestern University where he was a member of Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity.

In February of 2005, he won a Grammy Award for "Best Compilation Soundtrack For A Motion Picture" for , a film he is expected to produce in 2006 [1].

He also does voice acting for the Disney Animated film Chicken Little (2005) as the main character of Chicken Little and the upcoming video game Kingdom Hearts 2.

Private life

He is currently dating pop singer and actress Mandy Moore. They first started going out in summer of 2004. One of their first public sightings together was when they arrived together at a event for the Democratic Party prior to the November 2004 election. In early 2006, unnamed sources told magazine that the couple were engaged.[2]. Braff called this a "total internet rumor." Moore's representative denied the engagement.[3]

Moore also appeared in a story arc on Scrubs in Season Five as a love interest for J.D.
